The value of exercise

Regular exercise can help keep you mobile and supple, and improve your balance and coordination. It can also make you feel good.

Exercise doesn't have to mean going to a gym, it can be going for a walk, gardening, cycling - anything you enjoy that is easy to include in your daily routine.

Exercising with someone else or in a group can help to keep you on track.

Choose a time in the day to exercise when you are rested and your symptoms are well controlled by your medicines. Be sure to warm up gently and stretch your muscles before you stop, so you don't get stiff.

If you're not sure how to get started, a physical therapist who specialises in Parkinson's disease can help you.
